Shea Goulding

Founder & Managing Director

Gardening is great! Anyone can learn how to do it and nothing can compare to the feeling of seeing, touching or eating a plant that you grew from scratch.

When I first started gardening, all of the new information was very daunting. It seemed like there was an endless amount of knowledge needed, and every time I tried to learn about something new I had to sift through dozens of sources that all contradicted each other. Because of this, there were many times where I felt like giving up - what’s the point of trying, I’ll never be able to learn everything. Thankfully I didn’t stop, and now I am very passionate about gardening and want to share that passion with the world. I decided that I wanted to show everyone the joys of gardening, and I wanted to eliminate the initial learning curve that I struggled with. I created New Gardener with the aim of making gardening accessible to everyone - all the information, tips, experience, equipment all in one place.

Gardening For Everyone

Gardening brings joy, but for many it can seem out of reach. Some may feel they lack space to garden while others may feel unconfident and not know where to start. At New Gardener, we believe gardening should be accessible for everyone. For those unfamiliar with the art, for the younger generation, for those looking to learn, for the experienced, for those with ample space and for those where space is at a premium. Gardening should have no barriers.

Environment

Now more than ever we must do what we can to protect the environment. At New Gardener we believe that one of the most effective and important ways to do this is to grow our own plants. Whether that's growing your own flowers to decorate your house with, growing your own food, or anything in between, we should all do what we can to help.

As gardeners, I'm sure we can all agree on the importance of nature. Without it, we simply couldn't do what we love. A lot of what we use is made of plastic, for example plant pots.
