Garland's Original Grow Bed is perfect for growing all sorts of plants. Offering just under 1m2 of growing space and an internal capacity of 230L, this raised garden bed is a great, backyard alternative to an allotment plot - just without the long waiting lists! At a depth of 25cm (10"), the planter can accommodate nearly any type of flower, vegetable or fruit, including potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers and onions, as well as brassicas such as lettuce and cabbages, and even herbs. The size of the bed also allow easy access to the centre of the growing area, which can be an issue in larger beds. If you can't reach every part, weeds can become out of control or you may have to step on other plants or the soil (which will compact it) in order to remove them.
Raised beds allow better drainage and more control over the soil composition than simply planting in the ground. This is particularly beneficial for those with heavy soil as roots may not develop properly (and some plants like carrots or potatoes may not grow at all) when the soil is too thick.
It is also easy to assemble - simply slot the panels into each other and then secure them in place with the four corner pegs. No tools required. You can build a deeper grow bed by stacking one unit on top of another.
Please note that this grow bed does not feature a base/liner
